Imagine growing up without knowing you’re destined to be KING one day… That’s exactly the path Prince George walked in his early years. Kate Middleton and Prince William made a bold choice: to keep George’s future as Britain’s monarch a secret from him for as long as possible. Why? Because they wanted him to have something most royal children never get — a normal childhood. They wanted him to play football in the park, giggle at silly jokes, and live in the moment without the heavy crown of destiny hanging over his head. 🌿⚽ It wasn’t about hiding the truth forever, but about giving their son the gift of innocence — a chance to grow, explore, and just be a child before the weight of history rests on his shoulders. This decision shows the power of parenting with love over tradition, of choosing emotional wellbeing over protocol. And honestly, it makes George’s story all the more human — reminding us that behind the palace walls, there are parents who just want to protect their child’s happiness
Prince George will be king someday, but his royal parent, Prince William and Kate Middleton, tried not to make a big deal of it at first.
Royal author Robert Lacey told People Magazine that despite his royal “destiny,” the 12-year-old “really has had a period of a normal childhood.”
Lacey continued, “William deliberately delayed this news until the last possible moment. It shows special care and thoughtfulness — it also tells us something about how William felt about the weight of the crown.”
Reportedly, Prince George was made aware of his future prospect of becoming king around the time her was 7 years old.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman also said, “William takes his role as father of the future King as seriously as he takes his role as future King. That’s key. His overarching priority is making sure they enjoy it rather than fear it.”
Prince George is second in line for the throne after his father. The experts say that while his grandfather, King Charles III, continues to undergo treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, the future is a topic of discussion.
But they also believe that Prince William would delay making his eldest son the Prince of Wales title he currently holds.
“They would want him to focus on having freedom before giving him any royal titles,” a source told People.
Lacey added, “I imagine that when William talks to George about things like this, he uses words like ‘destiny’ rather than ‘duty.’ ‘Duty’ has a sense of being trapped; ‘destiny’ has a sense of choice.”
