Prince George, 11, Makes Rare Public Comment at Wimbledon and It’s Adorably Humble

Prince George is back in the Royal Box at Centre Court, but he may have some skills on the court as well.
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s eldest son, who will celebrate his 12th birthday on July 22, joined his parents and 10-year-old sister, Princess Charlotte, for their day out at the British tennis tournament on July 13 to watch the men’s singles finals.
According to The Telegraph, the foursome met with doubles champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, where Cash asked Prince George about his athletic abilities on the tennis court. The young royal reportedly shrugged and responded humbly, “I’m alright.”
Prince George seems to be taking after his parents by taking a keen interest in sports. Sunday’s outing marked his third time at Wimbledon, and Princess Kate previously revealed that her eldest son has hit the court with legendary player Roger Federer!

George, who is second in the line of succession to the throne, also often joins dad Prince William at soccer games, including a father-son outing on April 15 to cheer on Aston Villa.
The outing hinted that George will continue his father’s tradition of supporting Aston Villa. Prince William once said his eldest son was “part of the pride,” a phrase used to denote fans of Aston Villa, whose insignia features a lion.
However, Prince William has shared how all three of his children play a role in his superstitions about the club.
“If we’re not doing very well, I start moving round the house quite quickly and I put the children in different positions hoping that’s going to change our luck,” he told The Sun in an interview published on March 14.

Although the Royal Box at Centre Court is typically considered off-limits to children given the high demand for a spot and limited 74 seats, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are the recent exceptions to the rules.
Prince George first attended Wimbledon 2022 alongside his parents, who are regulars at the sporting event, where Kate regularly awards trophies to Wimbledon winners as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The young royal even got the chance to hold Novak Djokovic’s first-place trophy following the match.
George returned to Wimbledon the following year, cheering from the stands alongside his parents and Princess Charlotte as Carlos Alcaraz won the men’s singles final against Djokovic.

Last year, Wimbledon was a girls’ day out for Princess Kate, Princess Charlotte and Pippa Middleton, as the Princess of Wales made a rare outing amid her cancer treatment.
